A popular winter commercial variety with large, elongated-conical apple forms that are bright, with slightly burgundy and strong skin. These apples are harvested in September. The pulp is creamy in color, very sweet and juicy. Red Chief is a combination of excellent consumer properties, high keeping quality and transportability. Without special conditions, apples are stored until February, when refrigerated they can last for more than 7-8 months. They are an ideal pick for retail sale stores.
